Happy Fest - History

We have introduced Happy fest festival year by year to the people of the majority of main Czech cities since 1990. At every action there were about 500 paying visitors.

During the summer tour in 2005 the festival took place on the Shooters isle (Střelecký ostrov). in Prague. Thanks to the patronage of Prague city and to the support of the festival's partners, we succeeded in carrying it out for free. For one June day came the capital city center alive with glorious atmosphere, which attracted thousands of visitors. For example, the people could watch an interesting performance of musical bands Vishnu Tattva or Venu Gopal, a fashion show of the traditional and contemporary Indian clothing with popular Actors (Tomáš Valík, Klára Jandová, Petra Špindlerová and others), or Indian dance Bharata Natjam interpreted by Rásabihárí deví dásí. The invitation accepted even the minister of Indian embassy Ramesh Chander, and the cheif of the Indian embassy office, K. R. Chari.

The next city to take place in for the Happy fest festival was Hradec králové. There it was carried out in favor of unusually nice weather in the summer cinema Širák, again with a support of the city and for free. A musical recital of an original songster Oldřich Janota could be seen there. Others worthy guests were Jaroslav Brom, who enchanted the audience by excellent skill with sitar, lecturing Kadamba Kánana Svámí who has been living in Vrindávan for more than 30 years, or Dharma Rúpa Dás & Himavatí deví dásí, who memorialized George Harrison, the departed member of the legendary band The Beatles, by their chamber acoustic concert.

The athmosphere was spiced by a variety of colors, captivating sound, fragrances and flavours, which let an ordinary European visitor to stop for a moment, forget the always hurrying, over-technologized world and to dream... To experience a journey through the land smelling after curcuma, to let the wind blowing from the peaks of Himalaya play with the hair, to feel the wet air and a wild stream of Ganga or to listen to her memory and legacy as a river of the death. Or we could simply let ourselves be mollycoddled by watching the womanly graceful movements of Indian dancers and savour every possible delicacy. For the unrepeatable atmosphere that comes with Happy fest, it has been a permanent revered guest of such a cult festivals like Trutnov open air music festival or Sázava fest, which host about 15 000 visitors yearly.

The next year of the festival tour Happy fest - INTERDIGITATION OF THE CULTURES have we dedicated to our planet's various cultures and their spiritual values. And we are successful in this also thanks to Yours support.
